This group also offers support for family or friends that are affected by the disease. The group is facilitated by people who have experience with HIV related topics or who are living well with HIV/AIDS. Despite Gluckman’s early naiveté about the virus, condom use was mandatory with every one of her partners, and Gluckman made sure to get tested for HIV every time she got together with a new boyfriend.
That is, until she began dating “Adam” (not his real name), a good friend who eventually became her boyfriend when she was 22.
“WOMEN OF POWER” This group focuses entirely HIV women’s needs, perspectives and power.
Topics include: dating, family and friends support, how to protect yourself while engaging in a sex, female condom, Women’s Health , and Women & HIV among others.

“He came back and said he had tested positive, and I said, ‘Yeah, right,’ ” Gluckman recalled.
“We had the kind of relationship where we bantered all the time, so I thought he was joking. All that was flashing through my mind was the last number of months of unprotected sex.” Gluckman said she felt numb when her own test came back positive as well; but she perked up on the way back home to the couple’s apartment.
The goal of Positive Connections is to provide educational, emotional, holistic and social support to those infected and affected by chronic illness, with a special emphasis on the HIV/AIDS community.
